7th Dec 2014 - The sermon by Rev Tani Haunga focused again on the Isaiah passage: Isaiah 40:1 - 11, emphasizing God's response, to our cries for help. God cares that those who call on his name, be comforted. There is also an emphasis on our frailty and weakness as human beings, but that should not discourage us, because the Word of God, endures forever. 2nd Nov 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 23:1-12. It is Reformation Sunday, so the story of Reformation is weaved into the sermon. It challenges the individual to discern and look at one's life, and ask God to reveal areas that may need 're-forming'. 'Re-forming' one's life, happens, when one remains captive to the Word of God.
26th Oct 2014 - This Sunday was our Children's Sunday, a time where our children ministered to us in songs, action songs and drama. Our youth presented the main drama for the day, which was the main message called "The Great Commandment" based on the gospel reading, Matthew 22:34-40. Click here for a copy of the drama.
19th Oct 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga was on Matthew 22:15 - 22, with a focus on being responsible citizens of the state and the Kingdom of heaven. Responsible citizens of the state will pay their dues to the state, i.e. tax, child support, student loans, etc. What should responsible citizens of the Kingdom of heaven should do? 28th Sep 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 21:23-32. Jesus confronts the chief priests and the elders in regards to their arrogance. The parable reveal that God continues to open doors for us, that we may believe and live. The older son represents those who disobeyed God but eventually returned and commit their lives to God. The other son represents those who've grown up in the Church all their lives, and have become arrogant about their eligibility for eternal life. 21st Sep 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 20:1 - 16 focusing of the workers in the vineyard. Very often we argue for a reward that reflects our merit, or for a reward that pays us equally for our effort. These workers discovered that the farmer did not reward them according to their expectations. They were rewarded according to their needs. 7th Sep 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 18:15-20. Jesus focused on restoring the sinner or the wanderer, and in this passage, Jesus instructs his disciples (Christians) on ways to restore a brother (a fellow Christian) who may have hurt or offended them. 10th Aug 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 14:22 - 33. Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on to the other side. They may have been a bit reluctant to go over to the other side, that Jesus made them. On their way, there were both challenges and excitements. What does this mean for us today? It is Christian Unity Sunday, and focusing on the reading, this message emphasizes the 'non negotiable' point of unity for all Christians. There are matters where we will not agree on, but they shouldn't be a reason for division, yet, there are matters/doctrines that are 'non-negotiable'.

20th April 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on John 20:1 - 18 What kind of Risen Lord are you expecting? It is Easter Day and Jesus has risen, so how did the characters in the story respond to the Risen Lord? Starting with Mary, the message explored how she failed to understand that Christ has risen. She also failed to see (what she may have needed to see). Third, she failed in her expectations. Is it possible that today, we fail to understand Christ and we also fail to see Christ because we have the wrong expectations? Listen to find out how Peter and John responded to the Risen Christ...
18th April 2014 - The Good Friday Drama by the Youth was our message for the day. The Combined Churches of Mt Albert got together to continue their annual "Good Friday Walk" and it was great to be part of it. This year, we were there 2nd station, therefore having to come up with a drama or an item about the 'Garden of Gethsemane". The order of the walk were:
1. 10am St Mary's Catholic Church "The Last Supper",
2. 10.30AM Mt Albert Presbyterian Church "Garden of Gethsemane",
3. 11am Mt Albert Methodist Church "Trial of Jesus",
4. 11.30AM St Luke's Anglican Church "Crucifixion of Jesus",
5. 12noon Mt Albert Baptist Church ".
At the end of the walk, refreshments were provided and served by the Salvation Army at Mt Albert Baptist.
13th April 2014 - Sermon by Rev Tani Haunga on Matthew 21:1 - 11 "How should we respond, to Jesus as King?". This sermon explore how people responded to Christ as King. 1st, they welcomed Jesus as a 'military king' and 2nd, they praised Jesus as the son of David. We, should respond rather, by welcoming Jesus as our Lord, Saviour and King, and 2nd, by praising Jesus for all he's done for us.
